| 2007 was the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Survey of the Coast by President Jefferson. The name was later changed to Coast Survey, then Coast and Geodetic Survey and then became part of NOAA in 1970. A 200th Anniversary www page is at: http://celebrating200years.noaa.gov/welcome.html . There are many articles about surveying.

| Hi! Just wanted to let you know, my husband and I also came across a National Ocean Survey Benchmark that stumped us as well. It's at Nubble Point Lighthouse, in York Beach, Maine. Where yours says Haven (it appears) ours has a number 9399E and the year 1976). Very odd little critters these benchmarks, no? :) We're still trying to figure out what it's all about! Thanks for having such a fun website. I enjoyed my visit!

| Zhanna ~ Great website and links. I have visited website before. I look for information related to former airway beacon sites, purely west coast California, but also a little east coast searches. Thanks for link to Roger Barnes (Airway directory).

| You know I grew up right around the Glen Onoko Falls and believe it or not have never been there in the winter. Those pictures you have are beautiful, I was impressed by them. I will let other people of my family visit your page. Thank you for showing me those sites, that were only taken for granted when I was younger |
